Activities

The life of our church extends far beyond the worship services into many activities within the Parish as well as in the community.  New members are welcome in all the groups. Please join us!

Community Dinner

Through Community Dinner, St. Luke's prepares and delivers approximately 40 meals to area shut-ins on the last Sunday afternoon of each month. Deliveries are shared by a number of drivers and new drivers are always welcome. This is great opportunity to get involved!

Episcopal Church Women (ECW)

Membership in Episcopal Church Women is open to all women of the Church. Meeting once per month, the ECW has three main interests: (1) Fund raising activities to support Church property improvements, most notably through the annual Church craft bazaar; (2) providing meals and other support to special Church services, such as meals following funeral services and visitations by the Bishop; and (3) companionship and fellowship to one another, including preparation of meals for members who are ill. The ECW meets the third Wednesday of every month (excluding Summer) at 1:00 p.m. in the Church lounge.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Inspired by a similar ministry at a sister parish within our Diocese, approximately 13 volunteer knitters at St. Luke's create beautiful, warm prayer shawls which are blessed and donated to those in need of spiritual warmth.

Adult Choir

St. Luke's Adult Choir is small, but dedicated. September through May, the Adult Choir leads the congregation in music during the 10:00 (Rite II) service, prepares an anthem for most Sundays, and performs special music for Christmas and Easter. The Adult Choir eagerly welcomes new members at any time - prior experience is not necessary!

Mission Trips

Our Church believes it is important to act on our fourth Baptismal Covenant, "to seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving our neighbor as ourselves." In 2001, we partnered with St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Pickerington and sent a team parishioners to the Dominican Republic to teach Bible School and perform much-needed repairs at a local Episcopal Church. In 2002, a team from St. Luke's spent a week in Mullens, West Virginia, helping repair a home devastated by floods. In 2003, a group of youth and adults spent a week in rural West Virginia helping two small Episcopal churches conduct a summer Bible school.

Altar Guild

St. Luke's Altar Guild takes responsibility for the care and cleaning of all linens and vessels (silver and brass) used in our worship services. They prepare the Altar for regular services and help prepare for special services, such as weddings and funerals.

Support of Local Charities

We are actively involved in a number of local charities. Each year, a team from our congregation participates in the Washington County Relay for Life to raise funds for cancer research. We also participate in Crop Walk, the School Backpack project for underprivileged children, and a Christmas giving program for low income families.

Caring Connection

The Caring Connection is an ecumenically-supported outreach ministry. Utilizing a computer network of all social service agencies in Washington County, the Caring Connection provides both direct services and agency referrals. St. Luke's supports the Caring Connection through financial contributions and volunteer work by members of the Church.

EVE

EVE is the local domestic violence shelter for women and their children. St. Luke's is proud to be EVE's sponsor with the Diocese of Southern Ohio, which provides a financial contribution to EVE.

Marietta Food Pantry

The Marietta Food Pantry is housed at the First Congregational Church and supported by several local churches. St. Luke's supports the Food Pantry through a food collection box near the front door of the church and through volunteer workers.
